Eight services in Normanton ....

Had a quick reminder this week about eight services available in Normanton. The services vary from supporting victims of sexual assault and rape to a drop in project for the over 50's who have recently been bereaved and includes details of Yorkshire Miners Convalescent Homes! On a Wednesday we have a regular education session for all staff in the practice. One of the items this week was the 'Wednesday Box' - this is a box of letters, flyers and information that has come into the practice that staff should know about but is not important enough to circulate around, and these services were in the box.

Arthritis Care - challenging pain course.

Bridge Project
A drop in service for the over 50's who have been recently bereaved. Every Thursday afternoon at Kings Medical Practice.

Fibromyalgia Support Group

Mental Health Matters
Primary care employment coach for people with mental health problems. Email uhall@mentalhealthmatters.co.uk

NHS Health Trainers

Rebound
A project that helps to divert young people from drugs and alcohol in Wakefield. Email rebound@cri.org.uk.

STAR crisis worker scheme
A support scheme for the over 14's who have been raped or sexually abused in the last seven days. The project will discuss the options and you do not have to have made a police report to get help on the scheme. Telephone 0844 4068 680

Yorkshire Miners Welfare Convalescent Homes
Low cost convalescent breaks (Monday to Saturday) for mineworkers, former mineworkers and their widows. For details telephone 01977 703384

Welcome to Dr Siobhan Waldron

Dr Siobhan Waldron has joined us today for a six months training post. She is in her first year of a three year GP training scheme and was working in the Emergency Department at Dewsbury Hospital. Doctors who wish to become GPs have to undertaken a three year training programme and have attachments in an approved training general practice. We are an approved GP training practice - Dr Brown, Dr Walsh, Dr Harding and Dr Deeley are all approve GP Trainers and Dr Waldron joins three other trainees attached to the practice - Dr Javed, Dr Tai and Dr Turek, not forgetting Dr Sumara and Dr Timperley who are both on maternity leave! We give Dr Waldron a warm welcome and hope she enjoys her time with us.
